Hoteles City Express (BMV: HCITY) registered a 19 percent growth in income in 2016 to US$2.03 billion from US$1.7 billion in 2015.

Total costs also increased by 19 percent to US$1.65 billion in 2016, up from US$1.4 billion in 2015 due to a marked expansion of its property portfolio.

The hotels giant added 17 properties over the course of the year, 14 of which were in Mexico. With 13,702 rooms added this year alone, 2016 marks the biggest year of expansion for Hoteles City Express.

Hoteles City Express has a portfolio of 124 hotels in which it coinvests, franchises, administrates or owns outright. In January 2017, the Celaya Galerías property in Guanajuato added 127 rooms to the collection.
